Thank you to all the parents and families that attended this year's Welcome Back BBQ! We love to get to spend time with everyone, strengthen relationships and celebrate the amazing people that make Sunrise what it is today.
World Suicide Prevention Day was established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention in partnership with the World Health Organization. On this day we focus on reducing stigma and encouraging conversations with empathy and support. We work towards creating open, safe environments where people feel able to speak up and seek help, and improving access to quality care.

Starting next week we will be approving students for our Sunrise Outreach Distance Learning program, and we are now accepting applications! This program offers flexible, year-round outreach distance learning for high school courses to help students of all backgrounds earn an Alberta High School diploma or upgrade their course marks. Unfortunately, Sunrise School - Outreach Distance Learning does not have the capacity for students to complete their entire Alberta High School Diploma through our program.
If you meet the following criteria, our program may be a good fit for you:
-Earn a few credits to earn a High School Diploma
-Repeat or upgrade a course
-Finish those couple classes needed for post-secondary programs after not completing high school
-Balance school with other responsibilities, such as being a single parent or managing a medical condition
-Students who, due to extenuating circumstances, cannot attend in-person school full-time

It's only a few short days until we get to see all of our new and returning students and families! Sunrise School does not operate a traditional bell system, but our students will use the attached schedule for their classes. Our doors open at 8:25am.

We would like to thank all of our summer school students for their dedication and hard work this summer, as well as extend heartfelt gratitude to our program coordinators and teachers that spent half of their summer supporting student learning. Summer school has now closed, with the exception of diploma exams.
Our office will be open on Monday, August 10th from 9am till 4pm so that students may return their borrowed textbooks/resources and refunds can be processed. Please note that teachers and coordinators from summer school WILL NOT be in the office this day, and office staff is not able to provide details on marks, course outcomes, etc. If students are unable to return their books on August 10th, they will be expected to return them immediately upon the reopening of school , during the week of August 31st to September 4th.

REPORT CARDS are being sent home today with all Sunrise in-person students. If your child did not attend school today, or you took courses through distance education this year, you can visit our office before 3:30 p.m. today or between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and Noon tomorrow to receive your final report card.
SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENTS need to pick up their course materials today by 3:30 p.m. If you are not able to come today, you can come by the school tomorrow between 8:15 a.m. and Noon. If you do not pick up your materials, there will be no one available to help you until Summer School officially opens on July 6th.

Due to the increased demand, we are now full in ALL CORE COURSES (this includes all levels of Math, Sciences, English and Social Studies). Our waitlists for these courses are also full. You may still apply for CALM and all other options that we are currently offering.
