Grasslands Weather Update #2 – Rural Buses Cancelled
Due to rapidly changing weather conditions this afternoon, all rural bus routes have been cancelled.
*City of Brooks buses will continue within city limits only
*The Walking School Bus is cancelled for this afternoon
*Students who remain at school are safe and supervised by staff
For rural students who cannot be picked up, Grasslands is activating our Emergency Billet Protocol. Students will only be released to their identified emergency billet contact.
Please contact your emergency billet as soon as possible to confirm arrangements. School staff will remain on site after dismissal to support students and families as needed.

A reminder to parents that we have skating on Wednesday afternoon! If your student would like to participate, please ensure you have returned a permission form to the office. There will be limited skates and helmets available to borrow, so if your student has their own we encourage that they bring them to school on Wednesday morning.

As much as we may not be ready, cold weather and winter conditions are quickly approaching. Please make sure that your students are dressed warmly and that you are keeping up to date on Bus Cancellations and other communications by following us here, downloading the Grasslands App or listing to local radio!
Parents are invited to attend our first Parent Council meeting on Monday, November 3rd from 6:30pm-7:30pm at Sunrise School. Meetings will be held the first Monday of each month (unless otherwise scheduled).

Tomorrow is Halloween! We will be having a fun morning and students are welcome to wear costumes or fall colours if they choose. Stay safe and have a great time this weekend!

The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the Government of Alberta have announced they will resume bargaining on October 14th.
Please note that the strike remains in effect, and all Grasslands schools are temporarily closed until further notice. There will be no in-person or online classes, and no supervision or extracurricular activities at this time.
We remain hopeful that both parties will soon reach an agreement.
